Moralities due to Dengue infection have surpassed that of
any other fatal diseases in Pakistan in the recent times. Pakistan faced one of
the worst Dengue fever in its history in 2011.
The first confirmed outbreak of Dengue fever in Pakistan was in 1994,but a sudden rise in cases and annual epidemic trend first occurred in Karachi in Nov.2005.
Since 2010pakistan has been experiencing an epidemic of Dengue fever that has
caused 16580 confirmed cases and 257 deaths in Lahore only and nearly 5000 cases
and 60 Deaths from the rest of Pakistan and now till 2013 the cases and deaths
has been increased in number
.
Dengue is transmitted by several species of
mosquitoes within the genus Aedes , principally Aedes Algypti.
The virus has
four different types, infection with one type Usually gives life long immunity
to that type and short-term immunity to others.
As there is no commercially available vaccine, prevention sought Reducing the
habitat and the number of mosquitoes and limited exposure to bites. The Dengue
virus along with aedes Algypti is destructive for human health so its better to
be careful then to suffer.
